Beware of this scam: Never dial **21* followed by an unknown number!

For some time now, a new fraud attempt has been circulating, targeting mobile phone users. Fraudsters are using a simple but highly effective technique to take control of your calls and text messages... and potentially gain access to your personal information.

How does this fraud work?

Fraudsters contact their victims (often via text message or automated call) and encourage them to dial a sequence of keys:
👉 **21* followed by a phone number.

It may seem harmless... but in reality, this command activates a call and message forwarding to the indicated number - the fraudsters' number.

Result ?
All your calls, messages, and especially your verification codes (to access your bank accounts, social networks, or other services) can be redirected to fraudsters without you realizing it.

Why is it dangerous?

Fraudsters can use this technique to:

  • Reset your passwords

  • Access your personal accounts

  • Receive your validation codes (2FA)

  • Blocking you from accessing your own services

This is a sneaky fraud method and very difficult to detect if you don't know that call forwarding is enabled.

What to do if you have doubts?

If you have composed a sequence **21* by mistake, or if you fear your line has been compromised, don't take any chances.
